Trees and the land through a modernist window structure

Amber Wallis

Trees and the land through a modernist window structure, 2024 oil on linen 150 x 150 cm

My work portrays ghostly apparitions that exist for me within landscapes, architectural forms and interiors of my past. Painting from the viewpoint of a voyeur transcending the constraints of time: looking to past landscapes, seeing through structural openings into rooms of a handmade home I once knew. I’m interested in utopian architecture and ideals that become dystopian as a reflection of my own experience. In this painting I take this terrain - painting scenes anew, rendering them safe.
