Unarched, 2024 oil on canvas 135 x 120 cmPushing the boat down the river.
I see painting as a sort of poetic endeavour. Line, shape and texture jostle with each other on the canvas in infinite possibilities. Marks are removed or erased and rearranged until a new composition has arrived, much as a musician drops notes, chords into a composition. Everything is up for grabs and it’s an intuitive process. In the act of painting, anything is possible governed by the will to push and pull to create an at first uncertain form or structure.
