Yamanochi, January 9th, 2024 Jingdezhen porcelain, glaze, reduction fired 68 x 81 x 10 cmThis work emerged from a renewed transformation and connection to my love affair of the east. Captivated by the stark beauty of snow-capped mountains in Japan, I explored hidden temples and shrines. These spaces of wonder and stillness pulse through the work. Stark white surfaces echo the purity of freshly fallen snow, embodied silence, transience, and renewal. In Eastern thought, white signifies beginnings and the cyclical nature of existence, a presence both fragile and resolute, like the snow itself.
