I did this painting on a rock platform that overlooks Freshwater Beach from the North. I’ve been painting from this place for many years. I like to paint the water movement and the changing conditions through different tides, weather, seasons and the changing crowd. Through Summer, Autum and Winter. The different colours and numbers of people moving in unison with the water. I did this piece in Autumn where the crowd is still present but no longer the intimidating beast of February. Freshwater is a beautiful beach where many people learn to surf. I see the beach as a theatre where beauty and danger exist together, and the difference is a moment in time.
